Considering the main purpose of research paper on race and ethnicity

The world we live in today is characterized by many varying and conflicting interests and identities among the race and ethnicity. These two play a role in shaping the modern world relations and cultures. The greatest focus on the influence of race is seen in the United States but it is also characteristic in all the countries and societies of the world.

  • Racism:
The Black people of the United States, also known as the African Americans have constantly complained of mistreatment by the police and other government agencies. The shootings of Black teens in the United States which in most cases trigger violent demonstrations and riots across the United States is a good example of how race defines relations in the modern world.
  • Ethnicity:
A classic example of ethnicity is the 1994 Rwanda Genocide in Africa in which close to one million members of the minority ethnic Tutsi in the country were massacred by the majority Hutu. Many other countries in Africa and across the world are grappling with the problem of ethnicity which characterizes voting patterns when voting for government, and also the appointment to powerful government positions and in the security forces. Sometimes, racial and ethnicity differences led to violence in various parts of the world.
  • What to write on:
There are so many research paper topics about racism you may get confused as to what to write about. Unless you are writing paper for the world audience, you need to confine your research on some area, and most probably, your country. Racism and ethnicity is present in all societies across the world, although at varying degrees. In all the societies, you will find that race and ethnicity still play very important role in the shaping of the social, political and economic behavior of groups and individuals.

The two factors also play important role in the construction of political, economic and social institutions. Good examples are the former Yugoslavia where the civil wars were mostly fought along ethnic lines, and that led to the division of the country in to independent other countries united by common ethnicity.

Another good example is Sudan in Africa, which experienced prolonged civil war, leading to the breakup of South Sudan from the larger Sudan. The new country, South Sudan has experienced its own problems of civil war along ethnic lines between the Dinka and the Nuer tribes. These are just a few examples of the many issues you can raise or focus on in your research paper on racism.
